Research & Development begins on Moses Grobbelaar & Me
We have a new draft of the script which we’ll be working on at the Sherman Theatre in January – March 26. Lookout for further updates on our socials. Moses Grobbelaar & Me by Jonny Cotsen and Bridget Keehan. A funny, poignant semi-autobiographical show inspired by Jonny’s experience of making his Bar Mitzvah, meeting Moses, discovering Deaf pride and true friendship.

I felt privileged to be warmly welcomed as Papertrail Associate Artist onto day two of the Creative Stages course, and to listen to some of the honest and inspiring conversations taking place between directors and interpreters. And it was a delightful surprise to run into Katie Fenwick, one of the interpreters on the course, who I worked with just last year on a play called ‘The Luminous’, that I wrote and performed in for RedCape Theatre company. Working with Katie on this production had given me an insight into just how multi-faceted and complex the interpreter’s job is. Creative Stages – Training for BSL Interpreters in Creative Access
Who’s it for? This professional training opportunity, created by Papertrail, is for BSL Interpreters Level 6 (or equivalent to). Whether this is your first taste of stage interpretation, or you are an established interpreter seeking inspiration and development, this training aims to build your confidence and knowledge of interpreting for theatre in order to give deaf audiences, who use BSL, the best experience. What’s involved? This training will provide a supportive context in which to ask questions and develop your skills. Creative Stages – Training for Stage Directors in Creative Access
This training is for stage directors, at any stage of career, who are interested in finding creative ways to dismantle barriers to access. This professional training opportunity, created by Papertrail and run in partnership with Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, will offer the chance to develop skills in creating theatre that can be accessed by people who are deaf and hard of hearing.Time and funding constraints during rehearsals can limit creative thinking around access and how we work with BSL interpreters.
