Creative Stages
We’ve just completed our first training course for stage directors and registered sign language interpreters. The aim and idea of Creative Stages is simple: to break down barriers in the arts, which is at the heart of Papertrail’s mission.
We wanted stage interpreters to develop their stage skills and for stage directors to work creatively with stage interpreters but most of all we wanted to bring people together to learn from each other. The room buzzed with creativity and conversation – see the quotes below! We can’t wait for the next phase of this training and are busy planning our next Creative Stages course.
“Being with so many people passionate about making exciting, accessible theatre has been inspiring — we’re already talking about a manifesto.”
“When interpreters are part of the creative team, theatre becomes more inventive, more dynamic, and truly inclusive.”
“This course has been an eye-opener — what seemed like common sense suddenly feels like a radical shift.”
