Samantha O’Rourke is a BAFTA nominated disabled queer northern writer-director based in North Wales. Recent screen projects include BAFTA qualifying short film ‘Jelly’ – Ffilm Cymru/BBC Wales/Mad as Birds & original comedy drama ‘Mincemeat’ for Channel 4/Blacklight, which was nominated for 3 BAFTA Cymru’s including Breakthrough for Sam. She was Writer on Attachment for Liverpool’s Everyman Playhouse and part of artist led project Future Forms at the Donmar Warehouse. Other theatre credits include Theatr Clwyd, Volcano Theatre, Boundless Theatre and Dirty Protest. Her play Our Town Needs a Nando’s was recently staged at the Everyman Playhouse in Liverpool. She is currently developing her first feature supported by Ffilm Cymru. Sam was recently selected as part the prestigious BFI Flare x BAFTA mentoring programme, she currently has several original series in development. Sam is especially passionate about community led and site specific work.
